We've all had those days. You know, when you feel down and out. Like the whole world is against you and everything just isn't going right. I personally believe it's therapeutic to allow yourself a brief time, or perhaps a day, to cry and wallow in your pity-party. But when that day is over, it's important to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and count your blessings.
When I'm having a bad day, or a "feeling sorry for myself" moment, I always say to myself..."It could ALWAYS be worse." I remind myself how blessed and lucky I am to have the things I have in life, and the experiences I have had the opportunity to live. I remind myself that if I am unhappy with anything in my life, that I have the free-will and the power to change it.
We create our own destiny. We have the power to face the day with a positive outlook or with pessimism. I believe life is too short, and far too precious, to go through it with a negative perspective.
I remember such a day when I was feeling sorry for myself, funny now that I can't recall why, and my mother emailed me this video...
This video was my mothers virtual slap across my face to Get Over It! With no words at all she communicated to me that I could lay down and be a 'victim' to my circumstances, or I could get up, get over it, and make the necessary changes towards making my situation better.
I chose the latter.
In your times of adversity, what do you choose?
Cheers to health in life,
