As guests return home from the Resort, I often encourage them to take recipes that their families love and make a few substitutions to make them a bit healthier. This allows them to eat the same meal as their families and not feel so overwhelmed with all the changes they want to make. No need to reinvent the wheel at meal times! Just update it.
I came across this very long list of recipe substitution ideas recently and thought it was something that any guests could find helpful. I hope you agree!
It gives great ideas on how to add whole grains, lower fat or use a healthier fat, lower calories, decrease added sugars, and add variety to keep things interesting!
I especially loved the idea of using black beans instead of white flour in baking and for using brown rice crispy cereal and flaxseeds in rice krispie treats. Have you ever tried either of those?
What recipe substitutions have you found to be successful?

These are some terrific substitutions. I already use some but, I can always add new ones for my heathy eating arsenal!
